You may choose to update the kitchen, but it is in fine working order just as it is right now. We haven’t felt the need to change it. The pine paneling is cozy, and the yellow steel cabinets are bright. Since we’re going to a retirement community that supplies all new appliances, we’d be happy to leave these behind. There’s plenty of counter space, and the chopping block is very handy. The work triangle of the refrigerator, sink, and stove is very efficient. And there’s room for our kitchen table and four chairs (see below). Sometimes we even pull the table out and seat six.
One of the great conveniences of the kitchen is that there is a laundry room right off the kitchen. Also off the kitchen is a pantry with a lot of storage space and with an entrance to the dining room. And through the pantry, there’s the downstairs half bathroom.
